Hello! I've been wanting to make a recap post like this for 2 years but I never got around to it. I finally did it though! This year has been hollow for me and it shows with this blog. But I still have my favorites that kept me going and I'm sharing them now. I am a TV show girly so the list is mostly that. Most of them are new releases from the past year but there are a few old titles that were nostalgic and comforting. Each of these shows and movies are special to me and will be forever my favorites for the rest of my life. (Hopefully they are) Enjoy reading!
Hitman (2023)
Hitman was the first movie I watched this year on January 1st. It was such a fun movie to start the year off with and I really enjoyed every moment. The main characters had good backstories and had a satisfying character arc. Glen Powell and Adria Arjona had great chemistry and were amazing to watch. I don't know what else to say about this movie that doesn't spoil it. Go watch it, it's funny and a good movie. What more could you want in a movie?
Serverance (2022 - )
I have been waiting for this show for so long and to see the second season was truly amazing. Serverance season 2 started off strong, immedietely picking up from the season 1 finale. Each episode left me shocked and anxious for the next. The season was very emotional as you watch each character in and out of the office struggle for justice, power, and stability. We see it more with Mark and Helly's innies and outies but Burt and Dylan were also navigating their own stories alone. The most fun about watching shows in real time is seeing everyones opinions online. Every episode was amazing but my favorite episodes from season two were Chikkai Bardo and the finale.
The Summer I Turned Pretty (2022 - 2025)
There was alot of backlash with the final season this year and how it was handled. I didn't really agree with all of those opinions and thought the show was great. I enjoyed each episode and thought they stayed true to how it is in the books. (though I've never read the books, kinda regret that) My favorite episodes were episode 5 and episode 10. Both of them showed all the characters developing and understanding themselves which I found satifsying and the purpose of the show. It's one step closer to what the characters have been talking about and wanting since season 1. It was entertaining to watch the side characters, Steven and Taylor, as well develop and get their happy ending. It was unexpected but I enjoyed it. To see Conrad and Belly prevail and win was the ending I was expecting and recieved. So I was overall happy with the season. There was also a movie announced for next year, further showing the growth of these characters which im excited about!
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives (2024 - )
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is a guilty pleasure show that I've had on repeat the entire year. I love this show so much and the women on it. I think people love this show and the women because they are relatable to the viewers. They started off as maybe middle or upper-middle class and have those same thoughts and lives still. They aren't some boujee, try-hards like other reality stars. Because they're so fresh, it's so easy to see ourselves in them. Also, their culture is so different from ours that we want to know more and see more. This show really changed my thinking and my mindset. I will be trying a proper dirty soda in 2026.
Baby Daddy (2012- 2017)
I rewatched this show back in March and April. The reason why this show is in my favorite watches this year is because sometimes a light and easy-going sitcom is all you need to get through the day. It's a easy show to watch where I don't have to be super invested and have to follow along with the story. Each episode has its own plot and can be easily understood, even if youre not paying attention to the screen. I discovered this back in 2020 and fell in love with the show and characters. Revisiting that felt good and lately though I have been loving seeing more color. Everything nowadays is so beige. It feels good to see saturated colors. It feels more lively and hopeful. Beige and neutrals feel dramatic. Also, Danny Wheeler will forever be the standard.
That's all I have for this year!
Happy new year to all and to all, a good night. See you in 2026! :)
