Hi! It's been a weird year for me and it has reflected on how little I've posted on here. I tried over the summer to get back into posting full reviews but I'm not proud of the quality of them. Instead, I'm going to post my monthly recaps of new shows and movies that I've watched each month and write a small review of them. I still want to post and write reviews so I think this would be a good idea.
Movies:
🌕 The Last Showgirl (2024)
🌕 Twitches (2005)
🌕 The Last Showgirl (2024)
- I did not really enjoy this movie. The point of this movie was to show the struggle of losing your job and having to find a new path and it does that well. I thought Pamela Anderson was amazing and good to watch but the movie wasn't my cup of tea. I'm not the biggest fan of movies that show life in a real, depressing was and this was that. I remember when the movie was announced and Brenda Song was apart of it, I wanted to watch it for her. She didn't have a big role but I think she still did really well and I love seeing her again. Overall, I would not recommend or watch it again. Also, don't watch this in public like I did.
🌕 Twitches (2005)
- A classic halloween DCOM. The world building, characters, and plot are simple. It's easy to understand everything going on and predict what'll happen next. One thing I didn't like about it is the pacing. I think it was a little too fast for me and I wish they took their time in discovering and learning about the sisters. I remember when I was younger how much I loved this movie and the idea of being a cute witch like Alex (Tia Mowry). After rewatching though as an adult, I like Camryn more. She's more fun and happy.
TV Series:
🌕 Nobody Wants This. (2024 - 2025)
🌕 Chad Powers (2025 -)
🌕 Nobody Wants This. (2024 - 2025)
- Honestly, I get the hype. It's a cute and optimistic show about modern day relationships. I would consider the first season a classic for future rewatches. It's not too dramatic where you cringe and think it's embarassing like other recent shows. It's simple and the show knows it's message of learning to accept and love. Season 2's soundtrack is also amazing and I have 'In the Dark' by Selena Gomez on repeat.
🌕 Chad Powers (2025 -)
- This show is so good and hilarious. It's a really good and sort of fresh story of redemption. Each character has a good amount of time spent on them where the viewer has a connection and roots for them. I love Frankie Rodriguez's character and how steals every scene he's in. He plays the classic side character who helps the main character but I still think he's really great on his own too. Glen Powell is also so fantastic as Chad/Russ. I really like Powell in general and how hard working he is. I watched Hitman earlier this year and loved how he co-wrote the movie. He also co-wrote this show and it shows how dedicated he is. I would compare this show to Ted Lasso since it does have those feel good moments.
